Greetings, NCIS fans, and welcome to tonight’s videoganza.
I have four clips to share this time around. For those of you who fondly remember Director Jenny Shepard as the hot sexpot wise and benevolent boss, I have a clip from one of her first episodes that you might want to check out. Then, since I had it on hand, I included her great scene in the cute frolic, ‘Down Periscope’.
Then we’re going to take two very different strolls down Memory Lane; first with a clip from five years ago, then when the team goes back to Gibbs’ home town.
We’re going to start off tonight’s festivities with a few clips of the hot sultry wise and benevolent Lauren Holly. As much as I like Director Vance, I really miss Jenny. She added a dynamic to the show that the other female actors can’t pull off simply because of their lowly status compared to Gibbs. When Jenny put her foot down, she meant it. And, in retrospect, most of the times she overrode Gibbs was for the better. Loose cannons sometimes do need to be muzzled.
For those of you who came in after the eighth show of season 3, you missed our Jenny sporting some seriously long, beautiful locks. IMHO, that short ‘bob’ she had it cut to was just awful. I’m sure everyone thought it would look ‘sharper’ and ‘more professional and businesslike’… but at what cost?
Judge for yourself:
You were looking at her hair, right?
I remember a fun part she played in a delightful romp called ‘Down Periscope’, a submarine flick starring Kelsey Grammer and a lovable bunch of misfits and miscreants. Here’s the ‘tag line’ from the movie:
A rusty sub. A rebel commander. A renegade crew.
When destiny called, they should have hung up.
While ostensibly the movie is filed under ‘Comedy’, this isn’t to say it doesn’t have its moments. If there’s an award for "Great movie lines yelled by females in the heat of battle", this should certainly get a nomination:
Back on the NCIS front, here are two fun scenes from ‘Doppelgänger’, halfway through season two. ‘Probie’ has only been on the team for a few weeks and really is a probie, and the female agent, Very Special Agent Caitlin Todd (played by Sasha Alexander), was ‘stolen’ from the Secret Service by a clever act on Gibbs’ part in the first NCIS episode, ‘Yankee White’. There’s an interesting point to be made afterward, but for now just enjoy.
We have to presume outright that this episode had to have been highly popular with the viewers, right? Without even thinking about it, you’d figure they’d bring back the other team somewhere down the road, maybe halfway through the next season. Right?
Nope.
They never even used the theme again, much less the same crew. A small mystery unto itself.
Gibbs’ Rules
Myself, I haven’t paid any attention to the meme, but a quick search pops up lots of forums and blogs where fans have tried to fill in the blanks.
But where did Gibbs’ Rules come from? When did they start and what inspired them?
In tonight’s main attraction, ‘Heartland’, these questions are answered.
