And so World War IV came at last. This time no marvelous new era of technology dawned.  No new age of medicine arose from the ashes.

This time there was, with rare exception, nothing but ashes.

And this time the radioactivity that spewed through the atmosphere created uncontrollable mutations, to the point where mutation became the norm.
